CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY Audit Committee Paper 5 23/03/07 CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY FOR INFORMATION Title: STANDING ITEM: STRATEGIC RISK REGISTER Prepared by: DAVID CAMERON, HEAD OF CORPORATE SERVICES Purpose To update the Committee on the Management Team’s review of the Strategic Risk Register. Recommendations The Committee is asked to: a) Note the updated Strategic Risk Register presented at Annex 1 to this paper. Executive Summary The Management Team regularly reviews the Authority’s Strategic Risk Register. The updated Strategic Risk Register is presented in Annex 1 to this paper for information following the most recent review of the status of strategic risks by the Management Team on 20 February 2007. Two further risks have now been added to the register since it was last considered by the Committee at its meeting in December 2006. These recognise: a) the potential for a change to the National Park boundaries and the possible impact of that on delivery of the Authority’s strategic objectives; b) the potential impact of major “external” initiatives, such as the Beauly – Denny pylon inquiry to dilute the resource available to deliver the Authority’s agreed plans and hence adversely impact on achievement of our objectives. Management Team has agreed that the likelihood of a number of strategic risks identified has now sufficiently diminished to warrant removing these risks from the register.
